Did any of you have a Barbie pool growing up? Or....maybe you have one now! There are some playsets that I have kept such as the Dance Magic Photo Studio (garage sale find) and the Fashion Doll Bedroom Case playset. (post about it is found
here!) And I will admit, I do have the Barbie and the Rockers stage (another garage sale find) but that is another post for another time! :)
But the pool, I don't have a pool. But I do have this great pic I bought from a local vendor last weekend.

It's Barbie, Ken and friends in a hot tub made out of a crock pot. How cute! I just love how Barbie has her roller skate propped up on the edge. And look at the visitor out front. Barbie's dog Tanner!
I love how this artist makes these pictures. He takes toys and creates the most amazing photos with them. I personally love this one called "Hot Tub Roast" (I bought the 8 x 10) and the other ones titled "Mommy, I found him" (an adorable one with Kelly and Nemo) and "Public Pool" (I probably would have bought this one too had I seen it.) Take a look at his website
www.fineartdreams.net, and click on "Minatures/Animals." I love how some of the pics contain a Barbie on roller skates. So fun! There are also many other toys in these pictures. It is a total and true playtime!
Well, since I mentioned Barbie pools and playtime, let's review some of the ones we've had in the past shall we? Since I never had a Barbie pool playset, this will be fun to research.
One of the more recents, the Glam Pool. My niece got this for her birthday a couple of years ago. Although I think hers had the circles on the sides. The pool came a couple of different styles.
1993 Barbie Fountain Pool - Fountain changes color, you can see Barbie underwater!
The Malibu Barbie shown with the first Glam Pool should actually be here.

There are so many pools I can't possibly post them all here. But what fun all these are! I would never dream of putting any of my dolls in the water but I always wanted a pool, for pretend of course.
Let me know if you had any pools!
~ah, dreaming of summer fun~

Love that hot roast pool, lol.
I didn't have a pool playset either, (my Malibu dolls had to use the human pool - must have been an ocean to them) but I actually have two pool playsets now, both yardsale finds. One is the 1993 Fountain Pool (that thing is really huge, but it looks so great)and the other is actually a Glam pool, I found on a fleamarket last January. I wasn't really into getting that pool but it was included with some dolls I wanted. The Glam pool comes with various patterns on the pool plastic, mine has swirls with flowers and Barbie Logo silhouettes. I do not plan on getting another pool, but I know I wouldn't pass the Pool Party from the 70ies or the Barbie Dream Pool.
California Dream Barbie is really cute, I can so relate to wanting her.
I didn't know they made a pool playset for the Rockers. Amazing how many pools they made over the years.
I didn't know about the Rockers pool either. I saw the picture and I couldn't resist posting it.
Just looking from that video I could tell that it's huge. So fun. I wonder if it compares to the size of the Dream Pool from 1981.
I can't tell you how excited I would be if I had that Pool Party set from the 70's. If I got it, I just might have to debox my Sun Lovin' Malibu Barbie to display with it. They are probably really rare. And the pool doesn't seem very sturdy just by looking at the pic.
The pools are so much fun to look at. :)
I have a set called "Patio Pool Party" from the late eighties/ early nineties - the table and chairs that come with it display nicely but the pool is terrible, the sides go all saggy even with water in.
I love the Glitter Beach photo, I've developed a bit of a thing about this line and I'm considering starting a little Glitter Beach sub collection. If I ever get round to it :) I've also been on the lookout for the Cali Girl hottub (it came with the hotel set released for this line in the late nineties) but now I'm thinking maybe I should just use a crock pot ...
Yes, I guess that is the problem with most of the soft plastic tubs. They are just not sturdy enough to stand the test of time.
The huge fountain pool has a sturdy hard plastic tub, so it won't deform when stored away. I guess it is about the same size as the dream pool.
The hot tub from the Cali Girl Hotel looks really nice, but it is barely large enough to hold one doll.
Love your blog! I just stumbled across it! I am a total new fan! Stop by sometime and say hello :-) dolly hugs!
Barbiebeauties - that would be awesome! I too have this desire to make a Barbie pool set. Maybe I will add that to my "Barbie to-do's." :)
Andrea - Yeah, I didn't think that those soft plastic ones would do very good over time. The pool from the 70's with Malibu Barbie also looks like the plastic could deteriorate. Remember those snap-set pools? Those never lasted more than one year (or maybe my brother and I were too harsh on them?) haha.
Chynadoll - Thank you so much for stopping by! Glad to have you reading! I will be sure to stop by. :)
Barbie is really one lucky doll! I have a Barbie but never had one of these pools, which is very cool to have. But practicality-wise, I would prefer having a real pool for myself and just let my Barbie swim with me. LOL! Kidding aside, these are all lovely. Thanks for sharing!
Retha
Thanks for the comment Retha! I too would love a pool for myself rather than my barbie. Why should Barbie get all the fun? haha! Well, we have a hot tub so that's as good as it's going to get for me!
Thanks for stopping by! :)
