Pretty Treasures for Barbie

Greetings!

Sorry again for the lack of posts! I've been gearing up for vacation so it's been super busy! But today I bring you a new post and there will be one most post before I go on vacation for over a week. Then another new post right after I get back. Today is the day to get them all ready for your viewing pleasure!

First, I was looking through a box for accessories for one of my dolls and I came across this small package.

My mom sold Avon (still does!) and in the past, Avon came out with a great line of dolls and accessories. I found this under the Christmas tree one year when I was a kid.

Of course, because I was meticulous with all my dolls and accessories, it never ever came out of the package. (I still wonder why I was THAT meticulous.)

Let's see what these pretty treasure are!

Wedding treasures!

Upon further inspection it looks like we have obviously a wedding cake, gift package and some silver stuff.

When I looked closer at this tiny silver package wrapped very tight with bubble wrap, I decided here and now I was not going to open it. It contains a drink pitcher, cups and very teeny tiny silverware.

Now I love accessories. LOVE LOVE LOVE accessories and the smaller they are the better! But because I do not have a place to display this beautiful wedding flatware set, they will stay in their safe little bag.

But I did find a picture on the web of what is inside this bag. (the dog is NOT in the bag) :)

See? tiny! A cake server, forks, lace napkins with rings, a pitcher and four cups. Adorable!

But I do have a hankering to take the cake out of the bag! It comes in two halves which fit together snug. These will not be coming apart again. They are stuck for good! (And the table is one of those plastic pieces that come in a pizza box. They make great Barbie tables!)

And unfortunately I did not get a picture of my beautiful winter bride with her cake. But this is the doll who will be proudly displaying the cake.

I was looking closely to the Barbie and Ken picture on the top of the cake and can't make out her dress. I don't know if they just use a Barbie that has been placed on the market or if they have stock photos of dolls to use on things like this but I can't place the dress. Anyone see it close enough to tell?

Looks kind of like this FA dress doesn't it?

Also in the bag with the cake was the gift and two plates.

When looking on the web for pictures of these Pretty Treasures for Barbie by Avon, I saw that there were other Pretty Treasures that were not sold by Avon. Do you have any Pretty Treasures for Barbie and her friends? Or any other tiny accessories in general that you just love? Let me know in the comments!

There will be one more post this week before I head out for vacation. I'll publish it Thursday before I leave. Stay tuned!

I just love these Little Treasures Sets. There was quite a number of them in the era of Fashion Avenue, even for Ken and Kelly. I have a whole bunch of them stashed away in some box. I'll take some pics, as soon as I can unearth them. I think I might even have one FA Little Treasures set with the same contents as your Avon bag.

I can relate to you being so meticulous with your doll accessories, I was the same with my stuff.

I would love to see your Little Treasures Andrea! Accessories are so fun I had no idea that they had more of them. Seems that the only fun accessories they have now are just shoes (which are great too but sometimes you want more) :) But reading what you wrote, this wedding treasure set was not an Avon exclusive?

God forbid I ever have a daughter who's not meticulous with her dolls. I'd probably have a meltdown should she cut ones hair. haha

Haha, if you have a daughter, she will probably drive you nuts by putting clothes in the trunk without closing the velcro first, like mine did. They did not cut the hair though.

About the Pretty Treasures (that's the correct name, the FA ones were called Special Collection), my wedding set is from 1997 (box date is 1996, which usually is one year prior to release - but I guess you know that already) and it has the exact same contents as your Avon set. Your set might have been an Avon exclusive in the US, though. In Europe it was a regular playline item.

I posted the ones I found so far to a dollpage album:

There should be some more around here and I will post pictures to that album as I come across them. Some are deboxed though, so I have to look through my accessory bins.

I guess we all love the miniature accessories for our dolls. They were so much fun playing with. I was totally drooling over these sets again, while taking pictures. Wasn't it just the best, when an outfit had lots of little miniature props like the Fancy Frills lingerie sets that came with nailbuffers, manicure tools and perfume bottles, sadly today it is mostly printed cardboard accessories.

You were spot on with your guess on the dress from the cake topper. It is that FA dress and Ken is wearing the tixedo from the same year.

True, it was the best when the dolls came with the little accessories. When I went through my My Little Pony collection, some of the baby ponies came with toothbrushes, a few little toys, toothpaste, baby lotion, you name it they had it. I had such a hoot looking through the accessory box. The cardboard accessories are definitely not good enough. They need to bring them back.

I love all your Pretty Treasures collections. I am especially fond of the cookie baking set. That's funny how marketing changes from one country to another. You'd think that the US and Europe would be similar but I guess not! I'm going to make it a point to get more accessories. These are too cute to live without!

I would have never known about that FA dress had you not showed me it was the base of the OOAK dress I got for Christmas. They probably came out around the same time so it makes sense!
