Christmas Treasures 2014 Post #4

Welcome back to another exciting post of new Christmas goodies!

The hubby asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Naturally I said "Dolls!"

Of course, he has no idea what to get me so I cheerfully exclaimed that I would buy them online and then he could wrap them and put them under the tree. And I'd be lying if I said I forgot what they were. But I pretended so I would be "surprised" on Christmas. :)

The newest addition to my Ever After High Collection: Thronecoming C.A. Cupid!

With the exception of Raven Queen, this has got to be one of the prettiest (and most unique!) dresses I have ever seen. It just fits Cupid so well and she is absolutely stunning!

Her corsage is simple pink flowers.

Her handbag is designed with "a string of laurel leaves, just like the ones my Uncle Apollo wears for a sun-inspired crown."

Her earrings are cuffed wings given to her by her cousin Hermes. They "help deliver messages loud and clear, which will be perfect if I have to give an acceptance speech."

And what's unique is her left ear is a little different than the right!

And finally, the last gift given to her is her A-MA-ZING shoes! These "gladiator-style sandal heels are by far my favorite. They were a going away gift from my Aunt Athena."

Holy WOW! These are fabulous! The tassel heel? The up to the knee style? I don't know about you but I have NOT seen a more fabulous shoe yet on any Ever After or Monster High doll. And they have some great shoes! But these are just super super mega cool. I'm serious. Mattel could get some great commission if a shoe designer were to make these into people shoes. I mean, who could pass these up?

Cupid has some great gifts from her relatives. But she also sports a great set of wings. Complete with a heart in back! To me her regular wings have more of an angel feel while these definitely take on that mythology feel. Super fancy for thronecoming!

Her dress is naturally pink with a heart themed design. It has an open skirt (to show off those awesome shoes!) which has a shimmery designed overlay on a solid color satin underlayer.

Also a one piece bodice with two additional skirt tiers.

Cupid's mask is designed after a Pegasus and is most likely the inspiration behind her wings.

Cupid has the same jewels on her face that Raven and Apple have. Hers are little hearts. She still has the same cupid-lip scheme going on that she had on her first-wave doll but it's less prominent.

Her hair also features bangs and two long tendrils that hang on either side of her face. I love the hair do!

The rest of her hair is hung in a side style ponytail. I love the hair but I think it takes away from the visibility of the wings!

You know I'm a sucker for pink hair dolls so you knew she would be entering into my collection. :) Friends, do you have Thronecoming C.A. Cupid? Will she be added to your collection? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

Christmas Treasures 2014 Post #3

Hi friends!

I'm back! And I feel that life for me has started to slow down just a tad. Holidays are over, all the Christmas decorations are down and put away, and now settling into turning my office into a nursery!

Which means....

The Barbie shelf is going away. SAD!

More sad!

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In a short couple of years, we will have a new house. Which then I will have my own office. And the hubby said that I could have displayed AS MANY DOLLS AS I WANT TO. Now THAT is exciting! But I'll still have my dolly projects and incredible finds to share with you. I'm not going anywhere!

I was excited to find this under the tree. She has been on my dolly wish list for FOREVER.

1988 California Dream Barbie

*squee* I had such a hard time keeping the secret when I shared my last post. Her (and Dance Club Barbie) have been on my wish list and now I finally have her! L.O.V.E.

Ah, the classic 90's face. Her bangs needed a little fix up and they are styled really strange. They are in a ponytail and then flared out. They were a mess in the box so naturally (and since the box was open) she came out and got a little bit of style. And like our friend Glitter Hair Barbie, she has palm tree earrings.

Super cute outfit with a hot bathing suit too! She is so "California"-ish. And she even comes with a little camera. Unfortunately she has "sticky legs" too! I wonder why my Teresa doll doesn't. Maybe because her packaging was immaculate while Midge and Barbie had less-than-stellar packaging that had gotten damaged through the years.

Barbie comes with her own comic book called "The Treasure Map." It's actually a pretty cute read.

And look what it has! Still the original record of the song "Living Doll" written just for Barbie by a favorite band of mine, The Beach Boys!

My mom looked at the doll and contents on Christmas and started laughing like crazy when she saw this record. It's not a "real" record. It's just flimsy plastic and she was wondering how a record player could even play it. I'm not sure either but I do have a record player and I'll find out someday. I'm sure you could also search YouTube for the song as well!

So now, I had to get a picture of all three of the girls together.

I love them. And I can't wait to get them off the cardboard and display them with a pool (which I still have yet to get.) And I'm also looking to possibly get the Ken and Christie for the set. I have NEVER had a complete set of one line of dolls. This would be the first and I'm so excited to see what I can come up with!

And then maybe get her too because, well, the socks with the high heels always got me.

Another fun dolly post coming soon. Until then!

Christmas Treasures 2014 Post #2

Friends.

FRIENDS.

I am pleased to announce my next Christmas Treasure. I am SO EXCITED for....

MY VERY FIRST MIDGE EVER.

This is California Midge from 1988, also known as California Dream Midge. How come it doesn't say California Dream on the box? Anyone know?

I just loved her little roller skates so my mommy picked her up and she was under the tree.

But Midge needs a bang job bad!

She has a cute little outfit that has similar prints to Barbie's and "a hot bathing suit too!"

There's her little roller skates!

Oh what the heck, let's open up that box!

So first things first, I fixed her bangs. I would eventually like to get them back to the front as in her picture but they are a little long. I'll probably need to cut them a little so for now, we are going to push them to the side.

I just love her freckles, don't you?

She has two different earrings (remember how cool that was in the 80's?) On her right ear is a peace sign with the word "love" above it.

On her left ear is a large record.

I'm not going to take her off of the background card just yet. She will be packaged for a while until I get my actual "Barbie" room at our new house. She will have to be stored until then to make way for the nursery.

Unfortunately, even though she was boxed all these years, she still has a case of the "sticky vinyl legs." Other than that, I'm just loving her!

Midge comes with her own comic book titles "Midge's Scavenger Hunt." It's pretty cute to read.

She also comes with these cardboard punch-outs of her, Barbie and the rest of the gang!

Now California Dream Teresa has a buddy to hang out with!

Do you have California Dream Midge? Let me know in the comments!

Doll and post #3 is coming soon. Until then!

Christmas Treasures 2014 Post #1

Greetings and Happy New Year! I had some good things happen in 2014 but more bad things in 2014. The new year is a time for a fresh perspective and outlook and praying that things look up every day.

I never have New Years Resolutions but I do have one this year! To have a healthy and happy baby. Can't ask for much more than that right?

Well friends, I did get some Barbie goodies this year for Christmas. These will be in a few posts so we'll get some awesome new cheer after the new year!

And maybe you have a feeling at which doll will be featured first.

The 2014 Holiday Barbie.

I do have a confession to make. This doll hits stores around (and sometimes way before!) Halloween. I saw her and honestly, I wasn't too impressed. With all the sales of Monster High and Ever After High, Barbie has kind of taken a swan dive. I was discouraged by her cheap looking jewelry and I didn't think she was that pretty. I even went back a month later and looked at her again and thought the same thing.

Then I opened her up on Christmas. I don't know if my eyes need checked or what but she looked prettier this time around. To me, she just had the sweet Barbie face that I just love and honestly, not disappointed in her at all.

AND...she has a photo friendly box. So I get boxed but deboxed pictures!

Her hair is not as hard as we've had Holiday Barbie hair in the past but still gelled to keep its cute curls. She has glittery gold eyeshadow and bright ruby red lipstick. Still not impressed with the necklace but it's okay and fits with the neckline. However she doesn't have any earrings! Holiday Barbie just has to have earrings, okay? :)

I do like her dress though. We haven't had a ton of holiday dolls with lace. But I think the red and gold really do the trick. I love the little gold bow at the waist.

Her dress is kind of a taffeta material over gold lace. And her dress is sewn to the box so it was a little bit of a challenge to find out what kind of shoes she comes with. After searching I found them behind the right side of her dress. They are bright red open toe stilettos! Much higher heel than the standard pump we are used to seeing. No bows or embellishments. But I do like the high high heel! (sorry, they were in such an awkward place in the box so I was not able to get a photo.)

I do love dolls with ruby red nail polish though! Just like the original dolls from the 60's.

She does come with the standard doll stand but with a redesign. But really Mattel? Could you have not made the stand a little more fancy? At least with the dolls name on it or something? The Holiday Barbie line is one of the biggest selling lines of all time.

Excerpt from the back of the box. "This sparkling season shimmers with love and good cheer! During the wondrous time of year, glittering, glamorous parties are always in style. Barbie doll joins the fun dressed in her prettiest red and golden gown. She's delivering festive wishes to you for the happiest holiday ever!"

And while I was searching for this doll on google, I found this picture.

Okay, this is SO me. And me when I was a little girl. I was always excited to open the paper and see the beautiful doll that I got. I'm sure I had the same face every year! (And honestly, sometimes I still do, LOL.)

So everyone, was Holiday Barbie under your tree this year? What do you think of her? Let me know in the comments!

Much more Christmas goodies to come in the following weeks. Stay tuned!
