On The Fourth Day Of Christmas...

Welcome friends!

At the end of the last post I mentioned that I might have some vintage goodness for you. You are going to LOVE it.

On the fourth day of Christmas my awesome dad gave to me...

Vintage Plantation Belle Barbie!

Plantation Belle is an outfit I got quite a few Christmas' ago. But I didn't have a complete outfit. All I had was the dress and the purse and hat. And the hat didn't have any stays on the side so it wouldn't have stayed on her head.

So my dad and I were looking at eBay when I was over to his house this last summer. I told him Plantation Belle was one of the outfits I really wanted to have the complete set of. But the petticoat was super expensive by itself so why not spend a little more and just get a whole new set.

So that's what he did. For a Christmas Present!

This is an original vintage Barbie Fashion that has been repackaged. But it is perfect and has the jewelry as well! There was just one question. Which doll to put it on? I didn't have any more vintage bodies to spare. So one doll had to be redressed. OH this was going to be a hard decision.

I thought about redressing Mood For Music. But I love this fashion so much.

I also thought about redressing Picnic Set but I wanted a ponytail doll for Plantation Belle.

Ideally I wanted a blonde ponytail doll but I only have two and they are reproductions wearing Wedding Day and Enchanted Evening so I can't redress them. So the brunette ponytail doll was the winner of the new outfit. She has been redressed twice so far! First was Wedding Day.

And then she wore Let's Dance. I had a HARD time taking this dress off of her because I love it so much.

But now she is wearing the new fashion and I couldn't be happier.

The pink graduated pearl necklace is just so perfect.

The sides of the hat I stuck in her hair to keep it in place.

The purse still has most of the beading intact. My purse I got a few years ago didn't have all the beading either.

The petticoat is so great! Has the little bow but unfortunately the snap closure had two of the same parts so I couldn't fasten it. So I just pulled it up as far as I could and the waist of the dress holds it in place so it doesn't slip down.

The hat is so perfect! No fraying at the end of the ribbons.

And I do have the pearl snake bracelet but it broke when I was putting it on her! I have some wire so I can restring it. Sad!

Also for Christmas I got this Barbie Trunk.

Definitely from the Superstar Era!

What was one of the items inside the trunk?

Vintage Allan!

This is not the bendable leg Allan so this doll is from 1964. And he came naked so we had to get some clothes for him!

I have a very small selection of clothes for Ken so I chose this shirt from the Lounging Around fashion. No yellow shorts though.

The ONLY other thing I had that matched was this pair of gray slacks from some fashion pak. As I said, my collection of clothes I have for Ken is very small!

And poor Allan is barefoot! Every shoe I tried to put him in came right off as they were too big. I don't have a pair of socks for Ken either so he's going to be barefoot for the time being.

And, because he is Midge's boyfriend, here he is with his girl! They are so cute!

So friends, what do you think of Plantation Belle and Allan? Have them in your collection? Let me know in the comments!

Well, that's all for today! Next post we will dive into what else was in the fabulous Barbie trunk!

Until then!

On The Third Day Of Christmas...

Hello Friends!

As I mentioned at the end of the last post, the next doll I have to show you is a Barbie! And I am so excited to show off this one.

On the third day of Christmas my cute adorable boys gave to me...

...Barbie Extra #3!

Barbie Extra dolls came out early December and as soon as I saw this one, I HAD to have her! The dolls don't have names but are just numbered 1-5. The box states that there are 15 styling pieces but doesn't say "surprises" so there are no blind bags to be opened. (woohoo!) So we'll go though all the accessories and then take a final tally at the end.

And here she is free from the constraints of her box!

Oh she is just so cute. That coat! That is why I had to have her. She wears a silver bodysuit underneath that awesome coat. The coat is fully lined! Nice job Mattel! She also has three necklaces, one says Barbie.

Her jeans have a star pattern and have a ruffle down the side. Cute! (I also gave her a Hairdorables doll stand as Logan didn't need it. However their waists are smaller so it had to go around Barbie's leg!)

The boots are super cute too! Wings, love!

Her hair has two cute buns in the front and....PINK HAIR!

Right behind the buns are a couple of barrettes.

The back of her hair came very nice out of the box. I just had to run my fingers through a couple of tangles. Wasn't going to take a chance brushing that hair. Loving all that crimping!

She also comes with a pet! And how cute is this! A pegasus unicorn pig! On a cloud!

So cute! The wings and the horn and flowers are removable and the cloud is just a base for it to stand on. So if you didn't want your pig to have wings, just take them off!

There are sunglasses with pearls around the frames. Nope, not doing it for her. Not sure what it is about Barbie sunglasses, most don't look good on the dolls! (In my opinion of course.) I guess they aren't TOO bad but, no.

She has a clutch that resembles a candy bar wrapper and says "Sweet." I thought it might be a pillow at first but there is a zipper detail on the back so a purse it is. And it is impossible for her to hold. It also took me a long time to get it balanced on her hands like that. haha!

And the most adorable gummy bear ring that goes around four of her fingers.

Also, this doll is 100% fully articulated. Not made to move but still articulated. I'll take it!

So, let's count up all the accessories (styling pieces) and see if I get 15!

1. Necklace
2. Necklace
3. Necklace
4. Bear Ring
5. Purse
6. Sunglasses
7. Barrette
8. Barrette
9. Pig Pet
10. Pig Wings
11. Pig Horn and flower crown
12. Pig Cloud
13. Shoes
14. Earrings
15. ?

She does not come with a watch or bracelet (or the stand as I mentioned above) so what is the last one? Maybe "outfit" could be classified as just one styling piece? She did not come with a brush. We have enough of those right?

So this is straight from the Mattel website:

"When it comes to fashion, Barbie Extra dolls have a ‘more is more’ attitude, featuring 15 pieces that include clothing and fashion accessories, as well as a pet and pet accessories"

Okay, so the outfit is definitely the 15th styling piece. Or maybe the Pig includes the flower crown/horn, wings, and cloud bed, that would be one slot and that would free up some slots for the top, pants and coat individually? Who knows! (i'm putting too much thought into this.)

Did you know there are FIVE Barbie Extra dolls?

Doll #1 with Puppy. That rainbow coat! That Afropuff! The dog is wearing high heels!

Doll #2. That pink and purple hair! The shimmery dress! The shaggy dog that is wearing a necklace that says "Boss."

Doll #4. That blue hair! Those shorts! The skateboard! The twin kittens have little crowns!

Doll #5. That rainbow hair! The fringe! THE DOG HAS HIS OWN JEEP.

So, if I were to get another Barbie Extra doll it would be #5. I can't get over that rainbow hair and the vehicle for the DOG!

Barbie Extra dolls are $24.99 each. And those little gem filled "bubbles" on the box? Mine is a bear and you can see above that #5 has a rainbow? Yeah, they don't come off. I tried.

So friends, what do you think of the Barbie Extra dolls? Did you get any for Christmas or maybe pick up a little treat for yourself? Love them or hate them? Let me know in the comments!

Another post coming very soon which *may* feature some vintage? Maybe? :D

Until then!
