A very *vintage* Barbie Christmas!

Hello!

Okay okay....I know what you're thinking. The title has "vintage" in it! Does that mean I got something vintage for Christmas?

Why YES! Yes it does!

So excited when I found these underneath the Christmas tree this year.

I present to you, the newest vintage dolls to my collection. Dolls! As in, more than one!

#1 - Barbie!

A beautiful brunette bubblecut doll. She's lovely!

She also came wearing what I believe is the Plantation Belle outfit. (need to get her a slip though!) She also came with the hat and purse.

#2 - Another Barbie!

Lovely Blonde Bubblecut doll.

When I removed the veil, her hair came with! I think we all know which doll this is!

She is one of the Fashion Queen dolls from the 60's!

She did come with her super stylish wigs!

Unfortunately I do not have her original outfit. Rats! She did come with the Brides Dream Dress but I don't think that's the original veil. Could use a cleaning. So excited, this is going to be fun to make it look like new.

She also came with pantyhose! How fun is that!

And I do have some white open toe heels I can give her. Brown doesn't go too much with a wedding dress. :)

Okay, SO super excited about these next two.

#3 - MIDGE!

*squee* I can't believe I can add another of Barbie's Best Friend to my collection! Last year I received my very first Midge from the California Dream series. Now I have this fabulous vintage one for my collection. Her hair is in perfect condition and she has freckles. I love the freckles!

Not sure about the dress though. I think it might be a OOAK. I didn't check for any tags. Can anyone confirm?

#4 - ANOTHER MIDGE!

Goodness, I just can't believe it! Now I have three Midge's in my collection. And two are vintage!

She's so cute. But the poor girl is missing a sock!

She also has freckles and came dressed in the Tennis Anyone? cardigan however that's not the correct skirt and top. It matches though!

She did come with the fabulous tennis racket and ball! Not sure what the gold thing to the right is. Maybe it could be a belt?

And in the box I still had one more doll!

A beautiful 80's - 90's doll wearing a very interesting fashion.

I was curious so I did some Google digging. And actually found it! I am so horrible at fashion ID's so I'm surprised my keyword search got some hits.

These are the Barbie Astro Fashions from 1985! The one I have is Space Racer.

But wow! Look at these! I'm in love. I have to have them all. I have to! Look at the blue of the Dazzling Dancer? These are so awesome! Why have I not heard of these!

This outfit comes with a helmet of some sort with silver wings.

The bodice is one piece with a belt and the jacket is actually a vest. Gotta love those shoulders!

And this poor lady is also missing a piece of footwear. Her boot. Wonder if I can make one to get me by.

I checked to see if I could get a boot on eBay but these fashions are scarce it seems like. There were only a few and no accessories that anyone wanted to part out.

Well, that's all for today! Do you have any of the fashions that these dolls are wearing? Have any vintage Midges in your collection? Anyone have some of the super duper fabulous Astro Fashions? Let me know in the comments!

See you next time!

Palm Beach Teresa - is she rare?

A trip to Goodwill yesterday landed me this lovely Teresa doll. She has painted on clothes which didn't take me long to locate her.

This is Palm Beach Teresa from 2001 and the catch-phrase for these dolls are "always dressed."  There were a lot of these dolls. The whole gang is here!

ebay.com
I was searching through the toys (around a little boy who was dragging out everything from the shelves, gotta love the lack of parenting!) and I saw a hand sticking out. I knew it was from a Barbie doll. I was even more excited when I saw that it was a Teresa doll.

(FYI - I love Teresa dolls because we share the same name, spelled the same way, with no H)

She had no price and I was a little taken back when the clerk told me she was $1.99. Her left arm is loose and she squeaks at the leg joints. I couldn't bear to put her back so I paid it and went on my way.

She needed me

I wasn't too keen on the choice of attire and was thinking about dressing her but I think if I wash her it will brighten up her dull looking painted-on swimwear. Plus there is something about dressing a Barbie doll in non-original clothing. It's just my thing, I love the original clothes if I have them.

Doesn't look too dull in the pic but trust me on this one!
The Help! I've been checking completed auctions on Ebay and there is not an abundance of these dolls but sellers have them listed as "rare" and have them priced very high. A couple of them have sold recently, one deboxed went for $7.00 and another NRFB for $3.99. Some NRFB are priced around $35.00! So help me, is she really as rare as sellers are making her out to be? If she indeed is, then $1.99 isn't such a bad price after all. ;)

This one is throwing me through a loop RESOLVED!

9/8/12 - Yay! Found out who she was! The 2004 Birthday Wishes Barbie. With the Mackie head mold, not the Goddess mold that I thought before.

barbie.mattel.com
So first off I fixed her hair.

Then I knew I had a beautiful aqua colored dress. For Christmas one year when I was a kid my parents went to Costco and bought these really fancy dresses for Barbie (They are not Genuine Barbie fashions.) Beautiful isn't it? It matched her necklace perfectly and was really the only dress I had that matched.

Ah, love her :)

Beautiful Goddess head mold, red hair.

The Help! Who is she? A wonderful anonymous poster helped me on a couple of these, maybe they have ideas of this one? I'm running out of search ideas on Google and can't find her anywhere. She has on a three strand aqua pearl necklace. I thought she was one of the birthstone dolls but she didn't match any. Also note the hair style. I'm thinking she might be from one of Barbie's new movies. (Fairytopia Mermadia, The Island Princess, The Glittering Castle, etc.).

Also she does not have pierced ears. The hole in her right ear was from something weird that was shoved through her earlobe. I bought her from a yard sale and she was very distressed and very dirty.

Another version of Who Is She? RESOLVED!

9/13 - My wonderful reader found out that she is the Easter Bunny Fun Barbie and Kelly Target Exclusive Gift Set. So cute!

www.pinterest.com
I don't have the original outfit for her so I had to pick a piece from my collection. Here is a fun springtime dress and I think the jacket is handmade. I got it from a yard sale.

I also added some cute purple platform heels. These were the shoes that seemed to match the best.

I love her. She has such a sweet face and is so cute and springy. Thanks for the identification Andrea!

Beautiful doll, can't find her online anywhere!

The hat is sewn on and she has a kind of strawberry-blond hair.

The help! What doll is this? I would love to dress her in the correct outfit. She looks like a Barbie, not like a Teresa and the lighter hair also suggests that she is a Barbie.

Who is she? RESOLVED!

8/27/12 - I found out who this Barbie is. When you have a singing Barbie doll, go to YouTube and listen to some vids.

I saw a Barbie that looked like her and even though she was singing in German, the tune was the same. This is Princess Luciana from the movie Barbie and the Island Princess. She sings "A Love That's Always There" from the movie. The arm is hinged so she can hold the cat that came with her.
So now I am hoping to get her original outfit (and maybe the cat too!)

VERY distressed Barbie.
Yeah, so I haven't done her hair yet. :)

The help! Who is she? She has one arm that is hinged at the elbow and the jewel on her necklace is a button. She takes three of the small batteries and has a small square on her back above the battery box which makes me think that she might be a fairy Barbie.
The year states 2006 but I don't know if that is the specific year for this doll or if that is just a year for the body mold.

Cute Faux-Fur Tops RESOLVED!

8/28/12 - Okay, kind of a funny story.....

When I first saw these tops I knew they looked really familiar. Blue for Teresa, Pink for Barbie, and I knew they were from a more recent Barbie (recent as within the last 10 or so years).

Through various Google searches such as "faux-fur Barbie tops", "floral tops", "floral faux-fur tops", I was coming up empty. So I posted it here thinking maybe someone could help.

I have a doll with the goddess head mold and red hair and was trying to search for this doll online. I tried searching some names of Mattel dolls and I tried the name "Kayla". I didn't find the doll I was looking for. But this is what I did find.
Photo from google.com search "Mattel Kayla dolls"

There she is!

After I saw this pic and found out she was the "Really Rosy" doll I kept thinking to myself that I had those boots somewhere and/or I had those boots at one point in my life.

After looking in a tub of my NRFB dolls, I found her.

I had my very own Really Rosy Kayla doll! With the box but no wrist tag. Funny story of how I got her. You can read it here!

Looking at the back of the box I also discovered that the blue top I have belonged to the Christie doll. There was no Teresa doll in this set. It also shows Kayla with white fur. Maybe they changed to purple mid-production?

So in my garage sale doll finds, I had a Barbie that had the same body and hands as Kayla. So I put the pink fur top on her. Also her face mostly resembeled the Barbie on the back of the box.

Now I needed something for the bottom. I tried on a pair of jeans that didn't really fit well so I thought I would dress her in the pink skirt from the 1964 Satin n' Rose Fashion Pak #1161. I have another doll wearing the shirt, jacket, pants, and shoes so now I have a doll to showcase the skirt!

When skirts were made to be worn around the waist. Dress it up with cute pink mary-janes. Awesome. :)

Next up: Finding a Christie doll for the blue top. :)

~Original Post~

In my distressed Barbie finds, I also look for clothes. I have these two adorable faux-fur tops with a floral print. I know the pink is for Barbie and the purple and blue is for Teresa.

The help! I remember seeing these dolls in the store within the last few years. Any idea on what the name of these dolls were? And these tops don't seem to fit the "old" dolls very well (before Barbie was redesigned to have a smaller chest). Most of my dolls are from the 90's before the redesign so I guess I will have to get one of the newer Barbie's when I display them.

~Cute tops, would love to put them on a doll!~

Original Twist N' Turn Barbie

I remember my mom telling me about how she could trade in her old Barbie, pay $1.50 and get the new Twist N' Turn Barbie. Well, here she is! She is wearing the original My Favorite Barbie American Girl Swimsuit. (I have the neon orange bikini with the white mesh cover-up she came in but I'm missing the top!)

I guess along the way I thought she was a Francie doll because when I got her from my mom she was wearing the poncho shown below. The poncho has the "Francie" label inside. So my mom must have had Barbie's Mod cousin at one point!

Photo from www.rubylane.com

The help! I don't have the cowboy boots that go with this poncho. Some pictures I see on eBay show plain light blue boots and some have a green trim at the top.
So which are correct? And where to get just the boots?
