Its a...

Welcome!

Well, we've had snow, snow, and more snow! It snowed for 2 days straight and sub-0 temperatures didn't help the cause. :( It was a blizzard pretty much and I couldn't even get to work until it let up! It's been crazy to have this much snow this early in the winter season!

Before the snow flew, I got in my checkup and found out...it's a BOY! Yay! I would have been excited with either but now I know what color to buy! I'm beyond excited. Unfortunately mommy's doll obsession will have to stay just mommy's but for now I'm totally stoked to be having a little boy!

So I decided that I will make a post featuring Barbie's favorite guy, Ken!

I have acquired quite a few Ken's over the years. Most have been featured on this blog but I do have one new addition to show you.

First, we have "Cali Girl" Ken. Now, why they don't call him "Cali Boy" Ken is beyond me! You can read the post here!

One of my favorite Ken's of all time. The Toy Story Barbie and Ken in Hawaiian Vacation. If you have not seen this toy story short yet, do it. It's awesome. :) You can read about him here!

At a garage sale a while back I scored this handsome guy to go with one of my favorite dolls from my childhood. Superstar Ken! Read about him here!

My awesome readers informed me that this thrift store find was the Ken from Barbie in a Mermaid Tale. I picked him up in this post.

The above Ken also was invited by Teresa to go camping in her awesome motorhome. Another Ken was also invited along. Read about them here!

My parents picked up some sweet dolls for me at a garage sale. One of them included Ken as the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz! Read about him and the others here!

During my childhood I got Sun Sensation Ken. He looks great with my Spash and Color Kira. Read about them here!

And now, the newcomer! This is My First Ken!

This Ken truly was "My First Ken." My mom never bought Ken dolls. She thought that he was not good looking so she refused. :)  But when I complained that Barbie did not have a date she bought me ONE. One boy for about 30 gals. I'm sure he was excited! haha

Ken is very dapper wearing a purple satin tuxedo jacket and a bow tie. (He's actually a prince but I have no idea where his crown is at the moment.)

His shirt and pants are actually one large bodysuit. This is part of the "My First" collection. Easy clothing pieces and non-sticky vinyl make for the quick changing of clothes on these dolls.

While this Ken had his choice of girls to go to the dance with, he always chose this girl.

Gift Giving Barbie! Why? Well, she is also wearing purple!

They are so cute aren't they?

So there is my post for today. I am going to venture out into the land of snow to see if there are any more goodies at the thrift store. I also bought another doll that I will feature soon! (I don't have her yet, maybe she will come this weekend!)

Friends, what is your favorite Ken doll you own?

Until next time!

New Post Coming!

I've been slacking! I do have a new post coming with an exciting announcement. This weekend! Just a few more days and I'll have it up. It will also feature some dolls that have been featured before, and a one or two new additions!

Until then!

Collection Showcase: Paint n' Dazzle Barbie and Teresa

Welcome!

Did everyone have a fun and safe Halloween? My husband and I decided to have a quiet evening in. I love greeting the (hordes) of trick or treaters but man, candy has gotten expensive when you are on a budget! We did take a walk where I saw a ton of creative costumes for both young and old!

Some of the gems:
A squid
Girl Mario and Luigi and their guy friend was Toad
To go along with the Mario theme I also saw Bowser and someone wearing a sandwich board that looked like bricks. Hubby and I had a good laugh at that one.
And many many Elsa's from "Frozen"

Too cute!

Well, with the coming of fall, it's getting time to stay inside and play. Barbie encourages a lot of imaginative play but what about clothes that YOU can design for Barbie?

Here enters 1993 Paint n' Dazzle Barbie and Teresa!

Paint n' Dazzle Barbie dolls came with 2 little fabric paints and fun gems to glue on the clothes so you can give them your own little flair!

My mom and I were BIG into fabric paint. We had hundreds (yes, hundreds!) in different colors and styles. My mom made a lot of shirts for my brother and I with fabric paint. So Teresa got a few more colors than what she originally came with.

Check her out!

Teresa came with little puff balls and foil stars to attach to her outfit. I think she looks awesome!

Her shirt has a star right in the middle

I outlined some of the designs on the coat with bright green and orange, and used some blue and orange stippling by the arms. The waistband of the pans are accented the same way. Each cuff is accented with a puff ball! (The sequins on the jacket were already sewn on)

The pants are awesome! They have a star and heart theme and a little puff ball on the thigh.

Now the back of the jacket is what I really took pride in. The back of the jacket ROCKS!
(And apparently I thought it would be a good idea to have a puff ball on the back of her pants which promptly fell off with mild play)

And of course, little stars on the earrings.

When my mom saw how much fun I had designing Teresa, she went and bought me the Barbie too!

Unfortunately, Barbie is not so paint n' dazzled is she?

I think I got her just about the time I started to box up the dolls and not take them out again for almost 20 years.

She still is a beautiful doll though.

She has a cute little twist in her hair and a little fly-away it seems!

Paint n' Dazzle Barbie came with 2 little bottles of Tulip fabric paint, some silver gems and little rosebuds WHICH I CANNOT FIND. Bah! They were always in the accessory box and now they are not there. :( Sad Face. I hope they turn up somewhere!

The pom poms and comb are Teresa's. I went wild with her even dazzling her comb! (I think I even dazzled her shoes but it peeled off the plastic.)

I love featuring dolls from my childhood. It's fun to remember back to when I played with them! These two were some serious fun!

Friends, do you have Paint n' Dazzle Barbie or Teresa? Or maybe one of her other friends! (There was a redhead, AA dolls, and a CAR!)

If you dressed up your Paint n' Dazzle dolls, I'd love to see the pictures (or links to them) in the comments!
