Collection Showcase: Angelic Inspirations Barbie

Greetings Friends!

I know you all are shocked but I don't have any "new" dolly things to show you! I'm all caught up! I even went to the thrift store a few weeks ago and found not ONE doll! Can you believe that?!

But that doesn't mean that I can't pull out one of the beautiful dolls I have from my NRFB collection!

This beautiful doll is just so stunning so when I saw the box I knew she was the target for today's post.

Presenting - Angelic Inspirations Barbie!

The box has a cardboard overlay and you can remove that and flip the surround around so you can display her through plastic. Which makes it nice for boxed but deboxed photos.

I looked online and it shows that this doll is from 1999 and I got her for Christmas one year. My mom ordered her through the Avon catalogue. And she is stunning!

The top of her hair is done up in a dewdrop and is held in place by gold and white rosettes. One of my favorite parts of this doll is the tendrils that fall down in front of her and the sweet expression on her face.

She wears an empire waist gown with more rosettes at the waist and it's full of gold glitter. Don't you love those gold wings?

The little dove is a cute feature. It can balance on your finger or Barbie's hand!

See that little tab under the bird's beak? That lever will make the bird chirp! And I tried it and it still works!

She also comes with a doll stand, an instruction guide (that shows you how to position the bird on her hand or your finger) and these little inspiration cards. This one says "Your dreams are doors to the future, be ready to open them." There are 4 in the pack.

The back of the box reads: "The inspiration to dream comes from all around you: a dove's sweet song, the ever-changing clouds, and a delicate rose. Your Angelic Inspirations doll is a radiant golden vision, created to inspire you to realize your own dreams. Graced with a whisper of angel wings, she is truly glorious in her glittery gown with is billowy overskirt and roses at her waist. Her cascading golden hair with its ribbons and roses frames her sweet face. Her eyes are full of promise. With your gentle touch, Barbie doll's dove "sings." It balances on her hand and on your fingertips. Inside: Angelic Inspirations Barbie doll brings four messages of inspiration on purse-sized cards for you to read and share with the special people in your life."

And down at the bottom it reads that the dove has a non-replaceable battery so I am very amazed that it hasn't gone bad by now.

While I was getting this one out of the box I saw another angel that I would like to share. This one has DEFINITELY been removed from the box.

Bubble Angel Barbie!

I should get a twist tie to hold her waist in place. This one is from 1994 and I was 14 at the time. She didn't get played with much because I was too "old" for Barbies. Now look at me! I'm 37 and still play with dolls, maybe more than I did when I was a kid! :)

She really is a pretty doll with that classic 90's Barbie face. And the wings make bubbles!

Pretty crimped hair and I love the bodice of her angel outfit!

The iridescent crunchy fabric of the skirt is awesome for posing her for photos. I'm guessing they used this because it could be easy to clean if bubble solution dripped on it. She wears sparkly tights with the type of glitter that falls off if you look at it the wrong way. It's not too bad if you don't move her too much. But I do think the tights just make the outfit!

She also comes with icy blue flats.

Accessories include a wand, bubble solution, tray for dipping the wings into and a comb. The bubble solution is all gone so i'm guessing I used it up back in the day. Anyone guess what the wand is for?

Holding the wings so you don't get any solution on Barbie! This is probably what I did.

Here's the back of the box. It reads: "Once upon a Magical Night Barbie dreamed she was an angel. Every time she took flight, beautiful bubbles flowed from her magical wings. Every sparkling bubble was filled with wishes and love."

And that's it for today! Do you have Angelic Inspirations Barbie or Bubble Angel Barbie in your collection? Have an angel doll that is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

2019 Barbie Fashion Show

Greetings Friends!

You are personally invited to the 2019 Barbie Fashion Show featuring some of our favorite vintage and new Barbie Fashion! This year features either dolls and/or fashions that I received for Christmas and recently! I got some good ones and I can't wait to show them off.

Here we go!

This is one that I already featured but I'll post her again. I got a vintage Skipper for Christmas. A blonde!

In this picture she is wearing Flower Girl! I had purchased another Flower Girl early 2018 off of eBay specifically for the condition of the flower crown. The bows on the dress were damaged but I have mini width ribbon and I was going to replace them. So the dress I got THIS Christmas went on the doll I got last Christmas because the dress was perfect! I've got to add a waist ribbon but that's easy.

So because new Flower Girl went on brunette Skipper, the blonde needed an outfit.

I present, Silk n' Fancy!

This dress was just too cute and she had to wear it. It did not come with socks, shoes or the headband so I added those. The socks actually came with my Sunny Pastels outfit but for the life of me could not get them on my Sunset Malibu Skipper so she got them.

The shoes came in the box of Skipper clothes. The shoes that originally come with this outfit are black so these work perfect. And I love the tulle bow!

This Christmas I got another beautiful Fashion Queen! I put her in one of last years outfits, Barbie-Q!

A lot of my outfits are not complete and I wanted to display a complete outfit (until I can make purchases and complete some.) This is such a cute outfit anyway, perfect for summer!

I added all her accessories in the pockets. She's even got the potholder! Love those accessories!

I put her in the brunette flip wig. Beautiful.

Also this last Christmas, I got a brunette ponytail doll! I have two ponytail dolls and I hope to get more. They are my favorite! I had to display this outfit, Mood for Music!

I did try to clean her shiny face but I did not want to do any damage to the makeup so I just used a little bit of soap and water and left it as is. That's just how it is with old vinyl. But this outfit is so clean and pretty and I wanted to show it off. The collar on the cardigan is angora wool and has a tendency to deteriorate with age. It's noticeable but not too bad. The original outfit comes with a three strand pearl choker. This is actually a three strand pearl bracelet that came with the accessories pack. I added it as a two strand choker and it fits the outfit perfectly.

There is also a blonde bubblecut Barbie that needed an outfit. I have always liked Red Flare so here she is!

So why does everyone love this outfit? Because of the fabulous red color and that it is inspired by one of our favorite fashion icons, Jackie O!

And that hat! Love it. Still need to get some small hairpins to get these hats to stay on all that hair! Just don't move her on the shelf........

I couldn't have her on the shelf in just a coat with nothing underneath. So I put on this OOAK gold dress and it looked good it just....didn't fit quite right.

The fabric of this dress is great and I love it. However the top didn't stay up, the bust gather is in the incorrect spot and the waistline is uneven.

Well, what dress goes perfectly with Red Flare? Are you thinking Silken Flame? :) Before I purchased anything, I had to check with dad who still has a STOCKPILE of vintage Barbie to dole out for the next, I don't know....10 Christmases? (and yes, I'm OKAY with this!!)

When he confirmed that he didn't have Silken Flame in the stockpile, I said that I was going to save up so I could get Silken Flame for Miss Bubblecut Red Flare. Well you know what happens next.

Say hello to my early birthday present.

We looked over eBay listings and this one was a good price and has the belt and the purse. Those were two key things that were non-negotiable for me in getting this dress. And thank you dad! Love you! :)

Here she is!

I'm not sure how to clean that satin skirt. I know the red will bleed all over it if it were to ALL go into the water. And water spreads through fabric so even if I were to keep the red out of the water, it still wouldn't work. So it will have to be.

Yikes, she better keep the coat on to avoid showing off her backside! (The belt helps a little but not completely.)

But look at how beautiful she is in this dress! And I will tell you, that belt is NOT coming off! It was so hard to get it cinched tight enough I thought I was going to break it. I had to be strong but super gentle.

Purse is MINT! Love.

And I am proud to say that Barbie and her little sister now have matching fashions. How cute are they? Aside from the Wedding Ensemble, this is the only one I have. I hope to have another someday when I acquire Fun n' Games to go with my Sunny Pastels Skipper.

Here is the entire ensemble! Oh my gosh, this is so gorgeous I just can't stand it!

And lastly, this doll recently came back from the spa and is now dressed in her new outfit!

I love Toy Story. It's my favorite Pixar movie. Mattel came out with some Toy Story fashion packs and I wasn't crazy about them. But this one is usually sold out everywhere because it's the cutest one. I found it way way way in the back of the rack at Wal-Mart.

The aliens! Ooooooh!!!

She comes with a handbag with a rocket on the front.

Shoes were an issue. I had no idea what to pair with this combo. These were the ones that matched the best and I guess they do work well. These are the boots from Really Rosy Barbie.

So here they are on my shelf in all their glory! I need to do some more modifications. This part of the shelf does not have a riser so some of the dolls behind Mood for Music and Red Flare are on a tissue box. And the other dolls in the corner aren't visible. I'll have to add another tissue box...or get hubby to build another riser that extends all the way to the wall. Just too many cute dolls to display!

Honestly I need some more doll stands too. As I was trying to stand these up Mood for Music fell over and I had doll domino effect.

So friends, which one is your favorite of the bunch? Do you have these vintage fashions in your collection too? Found any Toy Story fashions that you picked up? Let me know in the comments!

August - Red Carpet Ready

Oh my. Look at those flowers on this gown. Breathtaking.

And the doll is no different.

Here is Spring Bouquet

silkstonereferencelist.com
Here is the deal. I scoured and poured through endless photos and this was the ONLY picture I could find of this gorgeous doll. She was made for the FAO Schwarz Barbie 2000 collection. I'm guessing I couldn't find any 'real' photos of her because she was priced at a whopping $8000. (!!)

But isn't she beautiful? It looks like hand stitched flowers on the dress. So so pretty.

Here is the excerpt from the fine print on the ad:

"From the Fashion Model Collection. Span the world for perfection and you'll find but one Spring Bouquet Barbie. Her magnificent strapless gown of ivory silk organza over ivory silk satin blooms with dense floral embroidery. Nesting pearls shimmer. Sprays of sequins twinkle. And a lavish ivory silk organza stole and ivory evening gloves demurely envelope this one-of-a-kind gem whose perennial beauty will always flourish."

Well friends, what do you think of Spring Bouquet Barbie? Want her in your collection (if it wasn't 8k?) Let me know in the comments below!

Next up, September 1st!
