Birthday Gift #3

Welcome!

For this post, I want to show you a birthday gift that I didn't buy for myself, but that a friend bought for me. I really didn't care that anyone buys me gifts for my birthday (except the hubby, hehe) but I have some very sweet and generous friends.

One friend bought me this and exclaimed "I looked through the whole rack to find the prettiest ones!"

www.gottatoy.com

Isn't my friend the sweetest? This is a collection of night evening wear. And judging by the picture, maybe from "Life in the Dreamhouse"? Or maybe it's just a closet.

Anyway, if you haven't purchased any new-in-box Barbie clothes lately, these are a PAIN to get out of the box. I don't know why they insist on making them so ridiculous.

(My niece got the Barbie Glam Bathroom a few weeks ago for her birthday and I insisted on "helping her" to take it out of the box.) A child would not be able to do it.

But this gave me a chance to go through my "naked" dolls, find a couple newer bodies that didn't need a bath and got these BFF's all ready for their night on the town.

All glammed up and ready to go!

The blonde doll is wearing the purple and silver halter dress with a fabulous asymmetrical hem. She also is carrying a purple sparkly wrist purse.

The brunette doll is wearing a teal one shoulder shirt with a silver brooch and a shiny purple zebra print skirt with a silver belt.

I do want to say that I am glad that with the introduction of the Fashionistas, they started making some great detailed shoes. I mean, we all know that the open or closed toe pump is classic "Barbie" but these shoes just add so much more to the outfit.

The silver shoes with the silver and purple dress are closed toe with a T-Strap, reminiscent of a gladiator style.

The black heels are ankle-high, lace up, strappy sandals.

So friends, do you have these dresses in your collection? Love them as much as I do? Let me know in the comments!

Next up on the blog, the two Barbies I have been promising to feature. (I tend to get sidetracked....)

Until then!

Birthday Gift to me #2

Hello again!

Last time I posted about the most beautiful Thronecoming Raven Queen that I bought for myself. Well, to get free shipping with the hubby's Christmas present that I bought, I had to get another doll. (Right.....I just HAD to.... ;) )

I present to you...

Lizzie Hearts!

Lizzie is a Royal and was another "Amazon Warehouse Deal." Dented box, no damage to contents. After I got all the packing tape ripped off so it looks nice, I realized that the box still holds it's cute storybook shape. So I am sold on Amazon warehouse deals! And if I get a box that's beyond repair, oh well. ;)

Lizzie came out of the box a little less than stellar though. WAY smashed hair.

Yikes. That's going to take some work.

Also, the hair in her crown is supposed to resemble a heart. It's also going to take some work (and some creativity) to get it to spread apart like it should be.

everafterhigh.wikia.com
Nonetheless, I still love her. She is the cutest! Who can't love the heart around her left eye?

I'm however, stumped on her face mold. I know that there are 3 (maybe 4?) face molds for EAH dolls. I'm thinking she's the same as Apple. What do you think?

She is a short doll though, the same height as Maddie.

A cute dress adds to the "Queen of Hearts" theme with filigree patterns and checks on the sides.

Adorable heart purse (that unfortunately does not stay on her shoulder) and those super super super cute heart tights.

Lizzie does not have any other red in her hair besides in the front and it doesn't look too bad now that I gave it a little fluffing.

THE SHOES!

Of course, the future Queen of Hearts has to have something to do with playing cards. So it's on the shoes!

Cards on the front, a square heel...

...and a card on the back; with a heart of course!

I love the shoes. So creative!

Also, can't forget the jewelry! I didn't get a picture of her ring. It matches the shoes, it's 4 cards and her earrings are cute teardrop hearts.

What do you think of Lizzie Hearts? Love her, could have done better with her? Let me know in the comments!

Also, if you are into watching the webisodes, you can watch this one where Lizzie steals the heart of a "special someone!"

Until next time!

Birthday Gift to me #1

Hello!

When will the craziness end? Ever feel like you are super busy then you get a weekend to relax and you still feel busy?

This is me right now. Yikes!

One little thing first. I found this cutie in the toy bin at the thrift store. She had old body style, no chewed or mangled limbs, so she came home with me. Her short, up-straight-in-the-air hairstyle makes her good candidate for vintage clothing and one of my fabulous vintage wigs! She has a dress for a newer doll. The dress was on a doll that didn't have any feet (*gasp!*) so I took it for my doll.

I love her simplistic face. She is a cutie.

Now to the surprise! Last time I posted this pic.

Obviously a dress of some sort, right? Well, I splurged and purchased this ABSOLUTELY BEA-UUUUU-TIFUL doll.

Thronecoming Raven Queen

lovelovelovelovelovelove <3

Really, it was a toss up between Raven and Cupid for the prettiest of the Thronecoming Princesses. Raven won because had the right price tag :) Amazon has what's called "Warehouse Deals." Some box damage but no damage to the doll and contents. I paid a cheap $14 for little miss Raven. The only damage to the box was the back had a soap-like spill on it and a little minor denting. The soap came off easily with a rag and the box still holds it's storybook shape. SCORE!

Ball gowns are after my own heart and the hair with sparkles? I was sold. Had to have.

Each Thronecoming princess has a special characteristic and "theme" if you will. Raven chooses a dragon which gives her a wicked cool collar.

She has pretty gloves and gauntlets and a cute purse.

On her left wrist is a corsage that has a special power. It's from a special "friend" (who is a boy.) He is also a doll. And since Hunter is in love with Ashlynn that gives you only one other guess as to who it's from. ;)

She has super long hair that also is after my heart. Not as long as Holly's but still really long. She has a cute charm in her hair. Why is it teal? Because the glitter on the black parts of her dress is also teal. I think it's a good contrast. When I was a kid the purple/teal combo was IN. It's a good fit for Raven.

Her mask is modeled after a dragon as well. It's a one-eyed mask and is super pretty!

www.amazon.com
I would have put the mask in her right hand like this picture however, it doesn't fit real well in that hand. So she has it flipped. Plus, I want to be able to see her pretty face :) And my purse does not have spikes around it that are that prominent. Oh Mattel, how we love that you change dolls from the promo pics to packaging.

Her dress is very unique as the hem is somewhat asymmetrical. It's shorter on the left than the right. I love it (and also it can show off the shoes better!) This pic shows how teal the sparkles are.

Which brings me to THE SHOES!

How do you design shoes with a dragon theme in mind? None other than spikes! Am I also seeing some chains around the ankle/heel area? :)

More spikes and chains on the back. These shoes really help accentuate the outfit! I think it would have been cool to have the chains be silver also. Maybe I feel a project coming on.

So friends, what do you think of Thronecoming Raven Queen? Will she be coming to your collection? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time!

My Ever After High Comic!

Greetings!

It's the moment you all I have been waiting for! :)

A while ago I mentioned that I created an Ever After High comic for a Facebook contest to win either:

1. Cerise Wolf
2. Manny Taur and Iris Clops
3. Any other Ever After High Doll

Well, needless to say I didn't win however I do like what I came up with! The rules were your comic had to star an EAH character but you could use any other dolls or props you wanted, and the comic could be done with photos or drawings. Since I can't draw worth beans this was great for me! Let me know what you think!

*a little backstory. Not everyone might get this and especially if you haven't watched the Ever After High webisodes. Raven doesn't want to follow her destiny and be the Evil Queen. Apple White needs Raven to follow it so she will give her a poison apple later on down the line. Everyone is trying to get Raven to be evil so she will follow her destiny, especially Apple. Apple and Raven are also roommates at EAH. Ashlynn works at a shoe store and LOVES shoes.*

1.
Raven - AGH! I can't find anything to wear to Barbie's party Friday! I want a dress that will "WOW" everyone.
Ashlynn - What-EVER-After Raven! Everyone knows the shoes always steal the show!

2.
Raven - I was just hoping for something a little less EVIL looking.
Apple - Raven, there has got to be something you can wear. Let's see......

Apple - Well, it could use some more color. I heard Once Upon A Dress is having a sale. Let's go shopping!
Ashlynn - Don't forget to stop at The Glass Slipper for some SHOOOOES!!!!

Raven - I LOVE this dress! I hope it will impress everyone. Thanks Apple....
Apple - Uh...Raven...??

1.
Raven - ?
Barbie 1 - Hexcellent Dress!
Barbie 2 - Fabelous!
Totally Hair Barbie - Super Cute Rochelle!
Barbie 3 - LOVE!
Rochelle Goyle - I got it at Once Upon A Dress! Don't you love it!

2.
Apple - Well Raven, maybe evil really is the way to go!
Raven - *sigh* A comment like that can only come from you Apple.

For Ravens dress, I took a Barbie dress and pinned it in the back to fit her. Raven's dress on Rochelle doesn't exactly fit either as Monster High dolls have a skinnier waist than Ever After High dolls. Wouldn't it be fun if they could mix and match? :) So I hope you all like the comic! It was a lot of fun to make.

Since my birthday is Monday, I took the liberty of buying myself a gift. Here is a piece of it.

Any guesses?

Until next time!

New Barbie Craft, part 2

Well, I finally found a time where the oven was not being taken up for mass quantities of zucchini bread so I could finally finish my Barbie Shrinky Dinks craft!

If you missed it, you can find how I acquired these Shrinky Dinks in my Part 1 post here!

Here we go!

I spent a good amount of time a few weeks ago picking out colors for my dolls. There is a rough side and a shiny side, you can use any kind of colored pencils and/or permanent markers for the coloring. (Crayola markers, washable or not DO rub off so for this you will want to use Sharpies.)

I had a hard time picking out colors but I think I did pretty good. I did copy the schemes for a few of the pieces, mainly the poodle and the Barbie Ponytail silhouette.

All ready to go!
(Note: clicking on the pictures will enlarge them)

After coloring you put them on a baking sheet rough side up.

And let's check sizes before we bake. You can see that one of the larger pieces is about 3 1/2 inches tall, one of the accessories is about 1 1/2 inches tall.

Time to go into the oven! I couldn't get pictures of the shrinking process because our oven has a grill through the window so I couldn't get a good focus. This entire process took about 2 minutes tops.

They curl up (almost to the point where they fold in half) then flatten back out. Voila!

The shrinky dinks!

WOW, that is drastic! I had forgotten how small they actually get. Cuteness! Let's check just how small they got!

Our large Barbie shrunk 2 whole inches, she is now 1 1/2 inches tall. The accessory shrunk to a tiny 1/2 inch.

These are the perfect size to make the charm bracelets out of.

I don't know if I will make the bracelets or not. I might run a pretty ribbon through the top of them and hang them from my Barbie shelf. Don't know yet! I think they turned out good and I'm glad I used the colors that I did.

I remember when my brother and I did these when we were kids. We had some that were "The Ghostbusters" and we played and played with them. (I think most of the time we had fun throwing them AT each other but that's besides the point.... ;)

If you get the chance to do these with your kids (or just by yourself like I did!) they are a ton of fun. And the bracelet kit you get with this would be awesome for a little girl.

Friends, have any other fun crafty ideas I can use for these shrinky dinks? Let me know in the comments!

Coming up next post....the Ever After High comic!

Until then!
