Barbie Odds and Ends

Greetings Friends!

Has your summer been as busy as mine has? I think I'm even busier now than before the school year ended! As soon as school was out the hubby and I went to Hawaii (without the children!) We had a great time and the kids had a fun time with the babysitter for the first half and their grandparents for the second half. Then we spent all the next week on the boat because it's been hotter than Hades here. Has our weather made national news? (Oregon and Washington being hotter than Phoenix Arizona?) Lots of time at the lake because it's in the mountains...and it's 10 or more degrees cooler there.

This post is truly some odds and ends that I've aquired! I hope you enjoy!

First, a few months ago I was helping my friend Mel ID some clothes and dolls she had. She was going to sell some on eBay and told me to let her know if I wanted anything. Well, I took her up on that and I purchased the surfboard/mermaid tail for my Merliah doll from Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2. In the movie she goes from mermaid to surfing superstar!

It's so perfect!

She is now proudly displayed in my bedroom in this surfer girl pose :)

Mel also added in a little assortment of shoes with my purchase. Thanks so much Mel!

I was looking through my candle box in the garage and I found a peculiar box that didn't look like it had candles in it.

It had this in it.

A figurine sculpted like "Bride's Dream" from 1963-1964. Her neck has been broken and the porcelain gone from that place but I had to take her out and display her.

Oh how I wish I had all 12. I have no idea where I got it and my parents didn't remember either. I have no idea if it was a garage sale find or if I got it from a friend or what have you. But she's pretty and on my shelf.

Have I posted this for you all? This is the Avon exclusive Barbie 2000 Celebrating the New Millennium Snowglobe.

I just love it. It plays the song "Somewhere in Time" by John Barry.

I try not to shake it as it gets cloudy from being so old but it has pink glitter in the globe.

My mom gave me these Barbie eggs for Easter!

I didn't take a picture of them before I ripped the plastic off (and yes, I do have a Wheel of Fortune mouse mat!) One was Barbie pets. Came with some stickers and a cute little doggie.

The doggie was all yellow sparkles and had indents where his features were. I just drew them in with a fine Sharpie. He has a lot more personality now!

And I guess I should say "she" as she has a little tutu on!

In the other egg was a little Barbie coloring book, crayons and stickers. I already started coloring them but I used colored pencils for a little more precision on those tiny pictures.

I also got some awesome Barbie fun finds at the Dollar Tree! Shoe Pack.

Headband Pack

Handbag Pack

I loved how these packs came with their own little rack to put them on!

And more of the Barbie Minis! I have all the career ones but now they came out with ones from the Dreamtopia playline.

From left they are: Fairy Candy Princess, Barbie Dreamtopia Rainbow Cove Princess, Rainbow Lights Mermaid, Starlight Fairy, Rainbow Mermaid and Flower Flutter Princess.

Look what I saw in the stores today!

2021 Holiday Barbie!

AA Version. She has braids!

I did not see the Hispanic version. So here is the picture from the back of the box.

www.youloveit.com

Someone mentioned that it is a Kira face mold. I can't really tell from this picture so I'll have to take a closer look when I can find a good picture. They aren't up on the Mattel website yet apparently.

And that's it for today! Hope you liked these Odds and Ends. Let me know if you picked up any of the Dollar Store Barbie goodies! Or plans to get the new Holiday Barbie! I'm in love by the way. I've always had a particular fondness for the Silver Holiday dolls.

Next time I have some Garage Sale finds I'm sure you are going to love! Until then!

On The First Day Of Christmas...

Welcome Friends!

I hope you had a happy holidays! I hope you all got some awesome goodies and made wonderful memories with loved ones. This year was the first year that we got to spend Christmas Morning at our own house. In our jammies! It was fun and our boys were so excited to get Play Doh from Santa!

I also got some dolly goodies which I am excited to share with all of you!

On The First Day Of Christmas my awesome mom got for me...

The 2020 Holiday Barbie!

A HUGE thanks to Mattel for not making another Holiday doll in RED. This is gold and so beautiful!

She's cute and has lots of curls. Such a sweet face.

She has dangle earrings with a snowflake in the center.

There is a cute little belt with a bow. Would have been nice to have it fabric but it's cute nonetheless. And pretty red painted nails!

Her skirt is a gold snowflake pattern with a sheer sparkle underlayer.

I was not able to see her shoes from the inside of the box so I found an image online of what her shoes look like.

barbie.mattel.com

The back of the box reads: "It's the season to be festive and merry, a time when snowflakes make everything sparkle, and the warmth of holiday cheer fills you with joy. May your 2020 Holiday Barbie doll be one more golden moment that lifts your heart and inspires you to embrace the wonders around you."

LOOK at these other dolls! I am loving the AA doll and all that hair! Nice!

Friends, did you get the 2020 Holiday Barbie this year? Not digging her or love her? Let me know in the comments!

I'll be back soon with another doll that I'm sure you're going to love. Until then!

Giftages 2019 - Post 1

Welcome Friends!

I hope your 2020 is shaping up to be a good one so far! Mine is so lets hope the year continues on this trend!

It's mid-February but better late than never right? Let's get to the new goodies!

It seems that I always start with the same doll in the first post of the year.

The most beautiful 2019 Holiday Barbie!

I actually love her mainly because she has the candy cane stripe theme going on. However I did write Mattel and let them know that this is the umpteenth year in a row they had a red dress. Let's see some more gold! Or green! But I do love that her box is boxed but deboxed photo friendly!

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this doll. She is very pretty with those beautiful side curls and drop earrings. Her hair is "Holiday Barbie" hard.

I like how they took the solid color and swept it up into a bow behind her shoulder. Gorgeous!

The style of the dress is also unique. I don't think the red top and the red bottom of the dress are connected but it creates a nice contrast between the pattern and the solid.

The red bottom is sort of a 'cape' around the dress. And unfortunately her dress is tacked down to the box so I could not get a good look at her shoes. From what little I saw of them, I think they are the standard dressy open toe shoes that come with nicer dolls these days.

And you can kind of tell in this picture, there are faint lines of silver glitter outlining some of the stripes. Gotta have that holiday glitter in there somewhere!

And as always the doll also comes in brunette hair color and AA skin tone. Check out the curls on that AA doll! Awesome!! And as shown here (and I just realized this), the brunette doll has a ponytail and curls and the blonde has just sideswept curls. Hard to tell when she's all held in by packaging!

The box reads: "Tis the season to smile wider, to hug your loved ones a little tighter, and savor that magical holiday spirit. Let each cherished memory warm your heart as we look ahead to joyous occasions. Reflecting the sparkle and jubilation of holiday festivities, 2019 Holiday Barbie is the definitive celebration of a season full of love."

So friends, was this doll under your tree last Christmas? Get the brunette or the fabulous hair AA version? Love her or hate her? Let me know in the comments!

I have another very special doll coming up in my next post very soon. Stay tuned!

First Impressions

Okay friends, here is the 2019 Holiday Barbie!

And *sigh* what color is she wearing?

barbie.mattel.com

Red.

Red. AGAIN!

MATTEL. FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING SACRED AND HOLY PLEASE PLEASE GIVE US ANOTHER HOLIDAY DOLL THAT IS NOT RED! I love the candy cane theme in this one but honestly. The last half of my shelf is going to be ALL RED.

What are you thoughts? Let me know in the comments!

Barbie - A Holiday Tradition

Welcome again!

Today we have a very special doll indeed. We are going to feature this year's Holiday Barbie!

This is a special year as it was the 30th Anniversary of the Holiday Barbie. Here she is!

And her box is friendly for boxed but deboxed photos! Note if you want to display or take her out of the box for photos. I've noticed that it is infinitely easier to take them out from the bottom than from the top. She is very easy to slide out!

And she is beautiful.

I know it's another red dress (because we seem to be getting red every year) but since this is the 30th anniversary and they modeled this dress after the very first Happy Holiday's Barbie from 1988, they went with red. I don't know if the one sleeve on the shoulder one sleeve off is intentional but it works!

And wow! What a necklace! Her curls are 'Holiday Barbie' hard and probably will need some fixing up if you take her out of the box. I do like the little headband!

Her dress has ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles! And a bow around the waist.

More ruffles!

And I had to check the shoes and they are awesome! Mine seems to be coming off of her foot. I tried to put it back on but it wouldn't budge.

The back of the box reads: "The holiday season is rich with traditions. For 30 years the HOLIDAY BARBIE doll has created a long lasting legacy of imagination and celebration. May she inspire you to love joyfully, celebrate special moments and create memories you'll treasure for a lifetime."

And as in years past, each skin tone has a different arm position. The photos of the dolls below don't show the one sleeve on shoulder one sleeve off shoulder as in my doll so like I said, I wasn't sure if it was intentional or not.

So, since I do have the original 1988 Happy Holidays Barbie, let's do a side by side comparison!

As is typical with dolls from the 80's, it's all about big and poofy and this doll has it. There is still the bow around the waist and the ruffles are a good take for the modern twist on the original.

But 2018 and the back of the 1988 box gives a better look. Love the holly in the hair on the 1988!

Check the sleeves

It looks like one sleeve on one sleeve off! Maybe it was intentional this year.

But Mattel, please PLEASE no more red dresses next year! If you could bring back the Mackie Barbies, that would be great. ;)

Friends, did you get this year's holiday Barbie? Do you like her or not like her? Let me know in the comments!

Next post coming soon!

My Holiday Star

Hello Friends!

Time for the first installment of the 2017 Christmas treasures!

And, as always, we have the fabulous 2017 Holiday Barbie!

And her box is friendly so we can get some fabulous boxed and deboxed photos!

However, you cannot pull her out of the top, you have to slide her out of the bottom because of these tabs. If you slit the tape at the top the box will NOT stay closed. I had to re-tape it.

After the disappointment of the dolls last year, we are given this glitzy beauty.

I am glad they gave her jewelry this year, not just a bracelet. Her hair is "Holiday Barbie Hard."

She also has a beautiful multi-color blonde do.

Her dress is shiny red (perfect for the holiday) and has a slit up the front. It shows off her gold strappy sandals.

Also this Barbie is outfitted with a big star.

Since i'm not fully deboxing her, I'm guessing that the star is held on by these loops in the back of the dress.

She comes with a certificate of authenticity and a doll stand.

The back of the box reads:
"As the year comes to a close, celebrate the occasions that made you smile, the dreams that moved you and wishes that made you hopeful. Every joyful moment in life becomes a sparkling memory in our hearts. Barbie is adorned with a gleaming star to commemorate all those wondrous moments. May your 2017 Holiday Barbie keepsake inspire you to dream bigger, to live boldly and always shine brightly."

As with last years dolls, the different dolls come with different hairstyles and arm positions.

I am pleased with the doll this year. Last year was so lackluster but I'm glad that they brought more glitz and glamour to the holiday dolls. Checking the Amazon reviews, the one star reviews were for damaged boxes so that's a good sign.

I do want to mention, this is the type of fabric where it will snag SO EASILY with normal play. I foresee a bunch of these dresses, snagged and torn sitting in a thrift store bin in 1 or 2 years. It is very very thin with no lining.

Also, Mattel! this is the FOURTH year in a row where we've had a red dress (not counting the other two colors from last year.) And the 5th year back we had silver and white and then the year before that (2012) the dress was also red. 2011 was green. Let's bring back more green! The green holiday dolls are so sophisticated looking!

OR....you could give us another MACKIE holiday doll. I'm still holding out hope on this one...

So, was Holiday Barbie under your tree this year? Let me know in the comments!

More goodness coming soon!
