Christmas Loot #1

Before I go on to another Christmas themed doll, I wanted to share some of the dolls I received this year under the tree.

I don't know if I mentioned that I love the space dolls. I have always been fascinated with space and everything that has to do with it. My dream job when I was in high school was working at NASA ground control in Houston. But knowing that I was not skilled in math or physics I abandoned that option and went into business (which has been a very fruitful option!)

Oh well, I can live out my dream job through Barbie right? Because she has held some 200 jobs or so through the years?

I was pleasantly surprised with her as one of my gifts.

The 1965 reproduction of My Favorite Career Miss Astronaut. I LOVE her! The mod look, the blond hair, everything! I love how she is proudly proclaiming that she IS indeed a rocket scientist standing with her helmet in tow next to her lunar module.

This next picture depicts a little better that her space suit is sparkly! Perfect for Barbie!

What I love most of all? Her little space mittens, space boots, and the flag. So cute!

I don't know why but the mittens are the most adorable things I have ever seen.

Barbie sets the path for girls who want to be anything. I admire anyone who challenges girls to be in different industries that were primarily dominated by men. I have a girlfriend who got her Ph.D. in physics and now works at a huge computer company in research and development. She is one of the brains behind your computer processors. :)

Dance Moves Barbie

So first off, I clothed my Christie doll. :) I looked at her hair and I didn't want to do much to it because most of it was in those perfect little ringlets.

So I just took it out of the regular ponytail and put it in a lower one and kind of tried to hide the straight parts.

Kind of worked...maybe...sorta. ;)

The shirt that I had was her original shirt. I looked online and realized that she was from the 2004 Cali Girl set of dolls because she is scented. She still smells like suntan lotion.

In researching the 2004 set, I found out that this little bikini was on the Lea doll.

So I put it on my Christie.

Looks cute!

Okay, I bet you didn't think that this post would be about Dance Moves Barbie huh? ;) just kidding.

My mom bought some dolls from a yard sale and she was stark naked. But she is in really great condition! I looked her up online and realized that I had the better part of her outfit.

She had all parts right down to the accessories (except the boom box) and the correct shirt. But she needed something so I felt that the lime green would be a nice contrast. A little bit of funky to go with the pink sparkle!

She's pretty.

And she still moves like a charm!

When I first looked at her in the box, I didn't know which doll she was. The articulated legs didn't ring any bells but I found some papers in the box.

That made it real easy for me to tell who she was and now I had the instructions on how to properly make her dance. And I believe that the sticker sheet goes with her too. Can you believe it's complete?

There are no decals on the walkman so I'm thinking that these must be for that. Or maybe this sticker sheet isn't for this doll at all. With the soda and the bird food stickers, i'm not sure.

Well, the moment you've been waiting for. What is in the package with the cute Barbie sticker?

The original shirt for Dance Moves Barbie! I searched and searched eBay and found this one. It was the one that had the least amount of snags. The material is the same as the bodysuit for Day to Night Barbie.

I am so happy that she is complete!

So, another complete doll to add to my 1980's collection!

The Help! First, should I keep the sticker sheet as is? Does it even go to Dance Moves Barbie? Also in the box was the instructions for the "So Much To Do Bedroom Playset" from 1995. Maybe those stickers goes to that?

Also, the shirt I had on Barbie before the awesome original shirt.

Any ideas? I think it would look cute as part of a beach outfit.

Also, anyone have ideas on how to restyle Christie hair? I would love to make the straight parts of the hair in those ringlets but I doubt that will happen without some major work.

So no more exciting mail order items for a while. But thrift store goodies are in store for this week! I did get the Liv doll along with some other goodies! Stay tuned!

Thrift Store Goodies

I finally took a pic of the toy section of the thrift store just to show you what I go through every week.

Okay, so maybe it doesn't look so bad in the pic but it's a chore to dig through. However, I really don't mind! I love to dig and I've scored some awesome goods. Look to the left, there is a Barbie house and behind that a yellow toy box. I didn't buy the house because it didn't have any pieces and was super heavy. Since it's $1 per pound, I didn't bother (and I have no where to put it.) But when I looked in the toy box, I found some treasures!

More clothes! I like clothes, running out of places for them but whatever, they're fun! Most of them are not Genuine Barbie and there was *I think* a MyScene doll. She had plastic hair with a wig (kind of like the vintage My Favorite Barbie) so I'm hoping that these clothes are not for her. However they might be. (Andrea, you can let me know) hehe :D

The top on the right has a tag that reads "Spin Master." Ring a bell to anyone?

This is an interesting but cute outfit. Kind of looks like pajamas.

Some pants. I'm pretty sure the hat was for the big head doll that I didn't buy in the trunk. Maybe the blue pants too. I think the red penguin pants go with the red shirt shown above.

Two robes. The left one says "HM."

A mod dress. Reminds me of Cher.

This is the ONLY clothing marked with a Genuine Barbie tag. Who's it from?

Also got some Ken clothes this time around! Maybe the tuxedo/pant combo is from a My First Ken? The orange shirt has an eagle on it and underneath it says "Ken."

This looks like it's for a baby doll. Remember the sets where you and your baby had the same nightgowns? This looks like something along those lines.

Accessories! A cute hawaiian print rolling bag (for my Jet Set Paris Barbie!) and also a hat box trunk, big tooth comb, purse, another weird long purse and what looks like a Barbie ski.

Bustform? I'm not really sure. It doesn't have a stand but a hole in the bottom so you could have one I guess. And what's with the back? I'm confused by this one!

You will be pleased to know that I also scored some dolls! Yay!

A modern Ken. I think I will dress him in the orange shirt above with the cargo pants I had in a previous post.

A dirty Teresa doll. I really don't dig the white lipstick on dolls. Who is the dress from? A Fashionista?

And lastly, this one

At first glance, she kind of looked like a Cinderella. But get a load of the shoes.

So cute. They don't come off really well so that's the reason they were still on the doll. Also, her legs are really bendy.

I'm excited by these finds! Not sure on the clothes. They are all dirty so I have some laundry to do this weekend! I think my favorite of the group is the AA doll. I honestly didn't look for any shoes this week. I didn't want to dig that hard.

Also, in a couple previous posts, I've mentioned a purchase I made that I can't wait to post about. I don't have the item because it accidentally got sent to my old workplace. I had a friend pick it up for me and now I just have to get it from her. Once I do, the post will go up! So excited to get it and show it to you.

Vintage Clothing Showcase and Memories

Sorry for the delay on this post! Internet was on the fritz! Also it's been a few days because it's been a long first week at my new job! I've been learning a lot and since I'm an Excel wiz, I've been getting a lot of special projects. I love projects where I get to think and create. Fun!

My mother called last night and said she had picked up a doll with freckles. I told her I had one and it was my Fashion Fever Drew doll but she does not have the traditional "Barbie" face. She said that this one actually looked like a Barbie. So I'm curious to see what she came up with! I'll get to see her next weekend.

Okay, I've posted a few of my vintage dolls here already. You can check them out here. But there are a few more pieces that I will showcase here today.

First is not a truly vintage but nontheless one of my most favourite dolls ever.

Enchanted Evening Reproduction. My mom had the ORIGINAL. Gah, I wish my Grandmother (well, really my aunt, long story....) wouldn't have sold the Barbie clothes at a garage sale. Just goes to show you will never know what you find at sales!

Memory: I remember dressing up the Barbie at my grandmas house in the *dirty* Enchanted Evening Dress. I was so excited that she had the original and dreamed of having the perfect and clean original. Now I have one. Well, not quite original but close. My mom's dress would have meant more though.

A non-Mattel doll wearing the 1965 Aboard Ship outfit. She comes with a travel brochure and a camera and I believe the camera was still in my mom's collection at my grandmas house. This outfit actually came with the rare pumps instead of the normal open-toe heels. These are newer pumps because my old ones don't have the toe opening. It was between this outfit and Matinee Fashion of which one to put on the new Bubblecut Barbie I found at the thrift store. This was my mom's favourite outfit.

Another one of my favourite reproductions, Solo in the Spotlight. Love her! Next to her....

This is Sandi wearing the 1964 Satin 'n Rose Fashion Pak. (My Really Rosy Barbie is wearing the skirt.) And I even have the heels!

The glitter is coming off (and apparently the hem is starting to fray by the looks of it!) but the heels are overall in good condition.

Memory: This outfit was a staple for my Steffie-faced Wet 'n Wild Teresa doll. I guess I just liked the pink against her dark hair!

I remember getting this doll case at a garage sale when I was little. Mom went to get some of the Barbie clothes from my grandma's house and since she left the doll case she had there, I got this one.

Oh how I wished I had Golden Dream Barbie. I wanted the doll to match the case! (I never got Golden Dream Barbie, maybe later I can get her? :)

In the case we have more vintage goodness! (If you want to see complete sets, google search the names of the outfits and it will bring them right up!)

The dress from the Orange Blossom Wedding Set.

Memory: I remember the white lace over-dress being at my grandmas house. I remember thinking how odd it was that a see-thru dress would be worn for a wedding. I never dressed a doll in it (because this piece was at home!)

The baby doll from the 1959 Sweet Dreams Barbie. I am missing the little shorts underneath. I have the baby blue heels from the set.

Memory: My grandma totally had the clock and the orange that went with this!

Ah, the bodysuit from the teaser post. This is from the 1965 Fun at the Fair outfit.

The skirt that goes with the shirt is red but I always put this skirt with it. I think it's just a generic blue skirt, it does not have any Barbie tags. So I don't know if it's Genuine Barbie or not but it matches!

This cute red tank came from the 1966-1967 Pak of Tailored Tops. The other top that came with was a plain white bodysuit.

Remember when I posted my Sew-Free Fashion Fun outfits? Here is the third one "Day in Town."

Memory: My grandma had the blue dress and the brown belt that went with. I never dressed a doll in the jacket ever. When I was little, I thought the design on the jacket resembled something an indian would wear so this never came out of the case!

This is the cutest hat I've ever seen. This is from the three pack of Glamour Hats from 1966-1967. This is the Reception Line Hat. Cute no? It doesn't quite match the pink on the Satin 'n Rose fashion and Sandi's hair is too big for it to stay on right.

Wigs! I love these. I don't think they are from the 1963 "My Favorite Barbie." My mom never had a plastic hair doll and the light blond wig on the right did not come with the set. All the dolls I've looked at have a dark brunette wig.

Memory: As you might be able to tell the light blond wig seems a little messy. That is because my dolls wore this wig all the time. It matched the style and color of my mom's hair and I wanted them to look like her. (awww ;)

This is the purse from the 1969 JCPenney Pink Premier set. It also came with gold gloves.

Memory: My grandma had "Twinkle Lights" Barbie and this was her purse. No other Barbie could have it...ever.

My parents had a friend who went to our church who made this beautiful halter dress and cape for Barbie. Love! I think I will put it on a doll and set it on my shelf.

And the genuine Francie poncho "Corduroy Cape." No boots though. I'm not sure if my grandma had them or not. 

Here are some clothes that I believe are vintage so if someone could help that would be great. I have tried to search but found nothing. None have genuine Barbie tags.

Lace dress with pink skirt. There are no closures in the back. It may be handmade but someone would have to have been an awfully good seamstress to sew the pleats in the skirt!

Tan pant suit. The jacket is just a smige big for Barbie. Pants fit great thought. Could also been handmade.

And I don't think this dress is vintage, in fact, I'm pretty sure it's not. Andrea?

Also, remember the super cute boots I got last time at the thrift store?

I have my weekly run tomorrow to the thrift store. Monday is a good day to go because now that I can wear jeans at work, Monday is the $4 jean day.
