Happy Haute Couture - January 2020

Greetings Friends!

I hope you had a happy and healthy holiday season and are ready for a fresh start with this new year.

In the 2019 Barbie Haute Couture Calendar we had one extra doll that was featured. There is a final page with the first four months of 2020 in the calendar.

Tea Time With The Girls

Beautiful floral dresses just scream "Tea Time." I have a few dolls in my collection with the title "Tea" in them and they all have a pretty floral dress. Love.

I could not find this exact dress anywhere but I found one that was similar called Garden Party.

This dress is so simply elegant. And while not exactly like the dress above, this one still has the hat and the delicate bow around the waist. I love it. And I guess this one was just for purchase as a fashion pack so there is no picture of it on a doll.

But I did find this!

www.pinterest.com
Here it is on a doll but it was sold as a fashion pack. Robert Best says in the lower right hand corner "Beautiful elegant fashions sold separately. It was the perfect way to add fun and flair to the collection."

I agree! Want to spice things up a bit with your silkstone collection? Here you go!

Here is the excerpt from the Mattel website:

"A pretty daytime ensemble, featuring a rose print organza dress, pink chiffon cardigan, straw hat, and straw handbag."

Ok, not much of an excerpt.

Well, that is it for the Haute Couture calendar! I hope you had as much fun as I did reading about some of our beautiful silkstone dolls.

Before I close this series of posts, I did hear a few months ago that they (Mattel) is discontinuing the Barbie Fashion Model Collection (BFMC)/Silkstone line of dolls. Which is truly a sad time for collectors as these are beautiful dolls! In a statement I read by Robert Best himself, he did say that he is excited to see what is coming for collector dolls and excited to be a part of it. So maybe we will have more Haute Couture in the future? We can only hope!

Happy New Year!

December - Off to the Set

We haven't had a red one yet! We had some red on Fashion Designer back in June but this is all red. And that coat! The turban and the sunglasses? So awesome!

Let's take a look at Red Hot Reviews!

barbie.mattel.com
Wow! I love that leopard print! It just ties together the entire outfit. The red helps the print to just pop. And the pattern on the dress is very unique, I like it! And the turban with the brooch is just so awesome. I love everything about this outfit.

Here's the excerpt from the Mattel website:

"All the critics agree: the newest star of the silver screen is a showstopper in every sense! And she knows exactly how to make a grand entrance in a retro-glam ensemble of bold animal prints and shots of brilliant red. In true movie star style, Red Hot Reviews™ Barbie® doll stuns the audience in a gorgeous belted dress, dramatic cape, and flawlessly matching handbag. Red-hot heels kick it up a notch, and oversized sunglasses are the final must-have in this unforgettably immaculate, devastatingly glamorous look."

Devastatingly glamorous? I like that description! Perfect!

Friends, what do you think of Red Hot Reviews? Have her or want her? Let me know in the comments!

November - Lunch on 5th

I love the designs of these lunch date outfits. Tailored suits are so crisp and clean looking. And the veils are so elegant. Can we go back to that time?

And here she is! Lunch at the Club

barbie.mattel.com
Those shoes! That hat and veil! This is beauty at it's finest. Can you just picture all of these well dressed women dining outside at a small cafe for lunch? Wouldn't that be the greatest?

Here is the excerpt from the Mattel website:

"A sophisticated ensemble, featuring a navy suit, pink halter bodysuit, gray faux fur stole with pink satin lining, pillbox hat, black "patent" handbag, bouquet of pink roses and white gloves."

So that wasn't much of an excerpt. HA!

Friends, what do you think of Lunch at the Club? Have her in your collection? Let me know in the comments below!

Next up, December 1st!

June - The Siren Barbie Doll (2007)

I dare to you find one person who does not love pink and black together. This doll is absolutely stunning. The black, the pink ruffles, and yes...the pink gloves! The hair in a sleek ponytail is perfect to show off the plunging neckline and sparkling jewelry. A fur stole completes the gorgeous evening look.

Ready for the actual doll!

barbie.mattel.com
Someone, please tell me you have her! I will be so excited for you because this is one of the most gorgeous dolls I've seen. The RED hair! So beautiful. And I love how they designed the ruffles in the doll version. As you know, sometimes it's hard to recreate what is in a sketch but I think they did excellent with this. I would like to see her without the stole so I can get a good look at those pretty gloves. I love her! She was issued as a Gold Label Silkstone doll.

Excerpt from barbiecollector.com:
"Awards night is here, and there's a red-headed stunner making waves on the red carpet and beyond! Another gorgeous creation from designer Robert Best, The Siren Barbie® doll is every bit the enchantress, heating up the silver screen with cascading red curls and a hypnotic gaze. In a strapless black mermaid gown that recalls the glamour of old Hollywood, our sizzling starlet is the picture of perfection and mystique. This red-hot beauty may be up for Best Actress, but she deserves accolades for supreme style too!"

Supreme style indeed! Know who else has supreme style with a similar dress (and red hair?)

Do you all love The Siren Barbie as much as I do?

I got a few new dolls this weekend that I will have the chance to show you next time. You better put your ID hats on again because I'll need a little help with a couple of them!

Until next time!
